because white\u2019s been on top<\/span>
\n long enough, now it\u2019s black,<\/span>
\n yellow, brown & beige<\/span><\/p>\n

because black is the colour<\/span>
\n of my true love\u2019s hair<\/span>
\n in the morning when I rise<\/span><\/p>\n

because ninety five per cent<\/span>
\n of the universe, & us, is dark<\/span>
\n unknown, unknowable<\/span><\/p>\n

because black isn\u2019t just another<\/span>
\n colour but the silent interior<\/span>
\n of all their rainbow loudness<\/span><\/p>\n

because ravens are dark wisdom<\/span>
\n & sit on white Odin\u2019s shoulders<\/span>
\n while he writhes on the tree<\/span><\/p>\n

because cool waiters, mourners<\/span>
\n & that sexy little black dress<\/span>
\n are all unaware anarchy in drag<\/span><\/p>\n

because black is like left: sinister,<\/span>
\n risky Trickster, death-defying &<\/span>
\n -accepting tightrope of life & light<\/span><\/p>\n

because the brightest<\/span>
\n hope is born<\/span>
\n in the darkest night<\/span><\/p>\n

because it\u2019s the anti- or meta-flag<\/span>
\n waving in a state of anarchy<\/span>
